Can Ender post news?

17 June 2009

Alright, so, I recently brought up my old blog on what-was-once the Dretch*Storm website - but is now GameBoom - and realized that I missed blogging. It was blogging, really, that got me into development for TremFusion in the first place. So, I want to see if I can blog for TremFusion now that we have our own totally awesome site. As such, this post is a test of that capability

Here's a raw URL. http://www.google.com

Here's a link to Google in html.

And here's a pic. I bought one of these today. Got the title right here, at my desk

Hope that worked

Okay, it did. And it looks like Django doesn't mangle HTML at all. That means I can thoroughly abuse this forum for communication. That, in turn, should help brew up some more interest about our project as I attempt to blog every day.

We'll see how long that lasts.

So, what is going on in TremFusion dev right now? Well, I'm currently disconnected from IRC pretty-much full time as my connection at work is so bad I can't stay on IRC for more than a few minutes at a time. Drives me nuts. That should be sorted out in a month or so as we upgrade our connection.

This translates into me writing about myself, and only myself, until someone else chimes in.

Recently I've been working on <a href=XreaL. I know there is some limited inroads made into getting TremFusion code running in XreaL, and I want to see where it is and what it'll take to get TremFusion totally moved over to XreaL. That would be a boost to our project and a boost to theirs, I believe. I've been posting progress on this thread. Why am I working at getting this running on Windows? Because my work provides rediculously nice hardware for my windows boxes since I program 3D graphics. XreaL runs like suck on my laptop where I have Ubuntu...so windows it is. Plus, having a project that is relatively painless on Windows is great for building a user community. Well. Building a larger user community. Not necessarily a quality one.

So, thus far, I've gotten XreaL to build, as well as xmap2. And I think I've compiled a map. I just have to figure out how to get the game to recognize it. Once I'm that far, I can start working on what's going on with the TremFusion 'branch'. I'll keep you posted.

Well, That looks great. Glad you've started blogging again Even though I'll probably never come back to look. The XReal sounds/looks great at their website and from what I hear. Keep up the good work! :)

The port of xreal to Tremfusion should be pretty easy and painless, since I already ported all of the xreal math functions over. Right now all that is left to do is copy the renderer source files over.

Another issue is support for older hardware. Currently Raedwulf is porting the q3 renderer to use xreal assets, which will then be available as an alternative to the xreal renderer.

It sounds great because it will atract lots of new players. Of course, it will run at 1 fps in my PC but it doesn't really matter :P
